Self Portrait : Sketching in the Smoky Mountains

Gary and I went to the Smoky Mountains a few months back, and he took this picture of me in Cade's Cove, while I was sketching. We have realized nobody has these "vintage" kind of lawn chairs anymore. Everyone has the kind with beverage holders on them with sling style seats. We joke we should sell them on ebay as antiques.

as goofy as this sounds, I just purchased a chair similar to yours from *gasp* WalMart. I don't care for the sling chair. I find myself constantly struggling with the chair and whatever's in my lap, hence I don't get much done! I got a big kick out of your post -and your artwork is beautiful!

Hi Nadine -- I really like this one -- a lot! I like the crisp lines and the vibrant colors and the way one picture really tells a story. Well done!

I'm so drawn to this portrait! The vintage treatment you've given the entire sketch is appropriate and oh-so-cool.
